The 2015 Cormatex dehairing machine is used for processing clean fleece / shorn fiber and removing coarse guard hair from fine undercoat or secondary fiber. In addition to the resulting prime fiber that can be used in luxury goods, it separates out 3 intermediate grades, which may also be used as a raw material in various fiber-based products.
Overall machine dimensions are approx. 6’ wide x 85’ long. To include the safety cage requires a 20’ x 100’ footprint.
Three different roller speeds on each unit. Three units, delivery apron, and the main cylinder can all be adjusted. Controls have been updated. The machine has been processing Alpaca, Musk Ox, and Bison/Buffalo. Reported to be usable for wool, cashmere, beaver, etc.
The transverse conveyor and one transverse conveyor motor were replaced in 2019. Safety cage de-installed and on a pallet.
A modification was made, and external support was added for roller shaft support that has 60lbs of the pulley.
The deburring unit, both shafts, has worn grooves at the bearings. The unit is currently offline, and repair is required. Approximately 7 rollers will need to be reclothed.
Included with the unit are 3 rolls of wire, 1 box of nylon, approximately 3/4 of a barrel of Syntha-Lube anti-static, approximately 1.5 barrels of Tri 275 anti-static.
Purchased new in 2014 from Cormatex S.R.L. Cormatex is a major manufacturer of textile-related machinery and its products are installed worldwide. This model is unique as Cormatex customized their “cashmere” dehairing line to be able to run additional fibers such as alpaca, qiviut, and bison.
Initially installed in Springfield KY in 2015, where a subcontractor ran the dehairer there for about 18 months.
Business direction changed with a subcontractor, and the seller moved the machine to Saco River ME in late 2016, again subcontracting with another textile company to run the dehairer. Cormatex technical engineers assisted with move and reinstallation in Maine. Operations continued in Maine thru mid-2018.
The seller moved the machine to Owensville MO in fall 2018. Again, Cormatex technical support was engaged to assist in the re-installation and calibration of the dehairer. Operations have continued in Missouri since late 2018 thru the current time.
