McWilliams Realty & Auction is honored to have been commissioned by TTU to liquidate the home and personal property of Captain Anderson's Estate. BIO OF CAPTAIN WILLIAM L. ANDERSON: He was born in 1918 the second of three children. He graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1939 with a degree in business. Immediately afterwards, in the spring of 1939, he went on to receive his MA in Education from the University of Kentucky in 1940. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Washington D.C. and entered the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Graduating from there in 1942, he entered active service with the Coast Guard, where he served until 1946 (attained rank of Lieutenant). After leaving the Coast Guard, he began his tenure with the U.S. Maritime Service as an ensign. In short time, he worked his way up to Chief Officer and Captain, and spent his career with them. The Captain valued above all else his education, and always enjoyed a good, intelligent discussion. He had many friends at Tennessee Tech, and enjoyed being on campus often.
