A live auction is always entertaining.
From the sights and sounds to the competition of bidding, there is something to be had for everyone.
Until recently the most exposure the live auction industry ever received was from the annual Barrett Jackson auctions shown on SpeedTV. This is certainly the standard that all auctioneers aspire to achieve to generate the kind of buzz that generates higher bids.
But in the last few months auction enthusiasts have been deluged with the in and outs of the auction industry.
We were contacted by the Nate Berkus Show to help them stock their audience with enthusiastic bidders for a recent segment they did on how to find bargains at auctions. They had a couple very savvy auctioneers on the show to help them, Deb Weidenhamer and Jason Stancill from the Auctioneer$ TV show.

While we are on the subject of Auctioneer$ , it is a new show on TLC which covers the interesting and unusual items that arrive at their auction house in Phoenix Arizona.
Next up is Auction Kings on the Discovery Channel with Paul Brown and his crew from Gallery 63 in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Last but not least is my favorite, Auction Hunters on Spike Allen Haff and “Ton” Jones buy storage units at auction and find some amazing treasures (and alot of garbage I’m sure) . Storage auctions always intrigue me as I have heard stories from so many auctioneers over lunch or a beer at many state auctioneer conventions over the past decade.
And yet I have never attended one personally. I have never heard of my local auctioneers doing a storage auction, but I will certainly keep an eye out.
Maybe I will have a story to tell someday.
